Manchester United began their post-Erik ten Hag era with a 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night at Old Trafford.
The Foxes rested Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and a number of regulars for the clash.
With the win, in which Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro each scored twice under the temporary guidance of interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, United eased into the quarter-finals, where they will face Tottenham Hotspur in London.
Spurs saw off English Premier League champions Manchester City 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to advance, with Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr netting for the home side.
Southampton, who had Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo in their team as they edged out Stoke City 3-2 on Tuesday in the fourth round, are up against holders Liverpool at Anfield in the quarter-finals.
The Reds won a five-goal thriller 3-2 at Brighton on Wednesday, with Cody Gakpo scoring twice, to earn the quarter-final pass.
Arsenal also cruised into the quarter-finals with a 3-0 win at Preston North End, as youngster with Nigerian blood Ethan Nwaneri, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz all scored.
The Gunners will welcome Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals after the Eagles stunned Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park on Wednesday night, with Eberechi Eze opening the scoring.
In the last quarter-final, Newcastle United, who beat Chelsea 2-0 at St James’ Park on Wednesday night, will host Brentford.
The all-Premier League ties are scheduled for the week starting on December 16.
