Enyimba’s hopes of progressing to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup suffered a setback following their 1-1 draw with Egypt’s Al Masry in a Group D clash in Uyo on Sunday.
The Nigerian representatives went into the game needing to win to boost their chance of advancing to the last eight.
But the People’s Elephant had to come from behind to force the visitors to a draw.
Mohamed Hashem opened the scoring in the eighth before Ifeanyi Ihemekwele equalised on 47 minutes.
The draw means Enyimba are now third on five points in the group after five games played.
Al Masry maintain the second position on six points from the same number of games.
In the group’s other game, Zamalek sealed their place in the quarter-finals following a 3-1 win away to Black Bulls Maputo of Mozambique.
The Egyptian giants took their points tally to 11 while Black Bulls are bottom on four points.
Enyimba must now beat Zamalek next Sunday in Egypt in their final group game and hope Al Masry fail to beat Black Bulls.
