Enyimba head coach Stanley Eguma has expressed confidence that his side still have the chance of advancing to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Enyimba will hope to brighten their chances of qualifying for the last eight when they host Al Masry of Egypt in Uyo in Group D on Sunday.
The Peoples Elephant are bottom of the group on four points while Al Masry are second with five points.
When both teams met in the first leg in November, Al Masry won 2-0.
While Enyimba will go into Sunday’s game after back-to-back wins in all competitions, Al Masry are winless in their last six games, recording two defeats and four draws.
“The game against Al Masry is a different ball game compared to the one against Black Bulls. We are ready, I want to assure you about that, the players have shown positivity in their games,” Eguma said during his pre-match press conference on Saturday.
“After the game against Black Bulls we also played against Nasarawa which we won, we are beginning to get our rhythm back.
“I know the North Africans and their antics but I want to assure you that we are ready because we know the game is important to us, we need the three points at stake in order to brighten our chances. We are not giving up because the group is still open for the quarter-final qualification, we are still optimistic and the players are ready.”
The former Rivers United coach praised the Enyimba management for their support.
He added: “The management have done their best to motivate the team, to psyche the team up so the boys are itching to go.”
