CAF Champions League: Remo Stars knocked out by Morocco’s AS FAR
Nigerian representatives Remo Stars have crashed out of the CAF Champions League after a 2-0 defeat to AS FAR in Morocco on Sunday night.
The Nigeria Premier Football League runners-up were eliminated 3-2 on aggregate.
Remo Stars had won the first leg of the qualifying round tie 2-1 in Ikenne last week and needed to avoid defeat in Rabat on Sunday.
The Nigerian side put up a brave effort and held the hosts to a goalless first half.
However, AS FAR broke the deadlock eight minutes after the break, with Congolese forward Joel Beya scoring, adding to the goal he scored in Ikenne.
Remo Stars’ fate was sealed 10 minutes from time as Amine Zouhzouh converted from the penalty spot.
NPFL champions Enugu Rangers are the only Nigerian club left in the competition after their 2-1 aggregate victory over Zilimadjou of Comoros.
