    Super Falcons of Nigeria stars Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie have been nominated for the 2024 CAF Awards Women’s Player of the Year prize.

    Several other Nigerians and teams from the country are also nominated in various other categories of the awards.

    The Confederation of African Football released the list of nominees for the women’s categories of the awards on Wednesday night.

    The 2024 CAF Awards will be held on December 16, in Marrakech, Morocco.

    Atletico Madrid forward Ajibade and Paris FC goalkeeper Nnadozie are among the 10 players shortlisted for the coveted CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

    The crown is currently held by six-time winner, Nigeria international Asisat Oshoala, with the other nominees being Sandrine Niyonkuru (Burundi/FC Masar), Tabitha Chawinga (Malawi/ Olympique Lyonnais), Temwa Chawinga (Malawi/Kansas City), Sanaa Mssoudy (Morocco/AS FAR),Jermaine Seoposenwe (South Africa/Monterrey), Thembi Kgatlana (South Africa/ Tigres UANL), Barbara Banda (Zambia/Orlando Pride) and Racheal Kundananji (Zambia/Bay FC).

    The CAF Interclub Women’s Player of the Year, Women’s Coach of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and National Team of the Year prizes are also on offer.

    Nnadozie is also nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Year prize, which she won last year, while Nigeria’s Chiamaka Okuchukwu and Flourish Sabastine are up for the Young Player of the Year.

    Edo Queens stars Emem Essien and Monle Oyono are nominated for the Interclub Player of the Year, with the Super Falcons, Falconets and Flamingos in contention for the National Team of the Year honours.

    A trio of Nigerian coaches, Falconets’ Chris Danjuma, Flamingos’ Bankole Olowookere and Edo Queens’ Moses Adukwu are on the shortlist for Coach of the Year.

    The winners of each category will be determined through votes from a diverse panel, including the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, and the head coaches and Clcaptains of member associations, as well as clubs participating in the group stages of CAF Interclub competitions.

    The CAF Awards 2024 cover performances for the period between January 2024 and October 2024.
