Uganda head coach Paul Put is confident his team will be ready to give Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Tunisia and Tanzania a tough time in Group C of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The draw for the tournament took place in Rabat, Morocco on Monday, with the competition scheduled for December 2025 to January 2026 in the North African country.
Uganda will begin their quest in Morocco on December 23 against Tunisia before taking on neighbours Tanzania four days later.
The Cranes will end the group phase against the Super Eagles on December 30.
“At this stage, there are no small teams and I believe we are ready to take on the teams we have been pitted against,” Put, a Belgian, told fufa.co.ug.
“I have always said that the stronger the wave, the stronger the ship.”
Also speaking about the draw, Uganda captain Khalid Aucho said: “Being at AFCON means you’re strong enough to compete with any team. I know my boys and they will deliver. We want to make our fans happy.”
Put led Burkina Faso to the final of the AFCON 2013 where they lost 1-0 to the Super Eagles in Johannesburg, South Africa.
This will be the first time Uganda will face Nigeria at the AFCON since the 1978 edition in Ghana.
The Cranes defeated Nigeria 2-1 in the semi-finals but lost 2-0 to Ghana in the final.
