Brighton and Hove Albion made it back-to-back victories against Chelsea with a comfortable 3-0 win at the Amex Stadium in the English Premier League on Friday night.
The Seagulls also accounted for Chelsea’s exit in the FA Cup thanks to a 2-1 win at the same venue last Saturday.
A brace from Yankuba Minteh and a world-class strike from Kaoru Mitoma sealed the points for Brighton on Friday against a subdued Chelsea side.
It was the first time since September 2021 against Manchester City that Chelsea have failed to register a shot on target in a Premier League match.
The Blues suffered another injury setback to one of their forward players as Noni Madueke was forced off in the 21st minute.
Mitoma opened the scoring in the 27th minute as he expertly controlled a long pass from goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, beat Trevor Chalobah and slotted into the net.
Minteh then made it 2-0 in the 38th minute as he neatly beat Marc Cucurella inside the box before hitting a low left-foot shot.
In the 63rd minute, Minteh got his second after beating Cucurella once again inside the box and netting with a hard low drive.
The victory took Brighton to eighth place in the table while Chelsea remain fourth but could slip down the ladder depending on results on Saturday and Sunday.
