Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has described Galatasaray’s league win away to Rizespor on Monday as key for his side.
The Nigeria international continued his impressive scoring run as he scored the two goals to help his side to a 2-1 win, taking his league tally to 14 goals in 18 appearances this season.
Also leaders Galatasaray restored their six-point lead over Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig table.
“I think it was a very important and very difficult match. We won, we think we won in a way we deserved,” Osimhen told Galatasaray’s website.
“I want to congratulate the whole team. I also want to thank our fans. This victory and their support gave us a lot of morale. We are continuing our winning streak in this way.”
Osimhen was full of praise for Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera for his role in the win. Muslera wore Osimhen’s protective mask briefly as they celebrated one of the goals.
“I had given my mask to celebrate with the fans at that time,” he added. “I came back and saw that he had already put it on. He is a great person beyond being a captain. He is a very important person for us.
“He had a very important role in this victory. I will rest my voice for a while and it will get better soon. My voice will come back to itself.”
