Victor Boniface earned Bayer Leverkusen the three points on Sunday, scoring a late winner as they defeated Wolfsburg 4-3 in their Bundesliga clash.
The champions were heading for a draw when the Super Eagles striker netted a dramatic 93rd-minute winner to complete the turnaround from 3-2 down and take Leverkusen to second place in the table.
Boniface has now scored three goals and made one assist in four Bundesliga appearances this term.
Meanwhile, in England, Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi was an unused substitute for the second consecutive game on Sunday as Nottingham Forest and Brighton played out a 2-2 draw in the Premier League.
Awoniyi has not started for Forest in the league this campaign, having come off the bench in the club’s first three matches.
The 27-year-old Nigeria international also did not see any action in Forest’s 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield last week, and could only watch from the bench again at the Falmer Stadium.
The former Union Berlin attacker has seemingly lost his place in the first team at Forest to Chris Wood, who was on target at Brighton.
Awoniyi has struggled with fitness issues since the end of last season caused by a series of injuries. So far this term, he has enjoyed only 33 minutes of football for Forest in the English top flight.
Ola Aina made his fifth consecutive start for Forest in the draw.
The Super Eagles defender, who was very impressive against Liverpool in the last game, started in his favourite right-back position, but switched to the left-back role in the second half.
Forest are unbeaten in the league this season, having recorded two wins and three draws so far this campaign.
