Victor Boniface scored again as Bayer Leverkusen came from 2-0 down to beat Koln 3-2 after extra-time and qualify for the semi-finals of the DFB-POKAL on Wednesday nighy.
<lThe Super Eagles striker has now scored in back-to-back games for Leverkusen after netting in his side’s 3-1 win against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
Boniface, who came on in the 76th minute, scored Leverkusen’s third goal eight minutes into extra-time to complete the comeback.
Damion Downs gave Koln the lead in first-half added time before Linton Maina made it 2-0 nine minutes into the second period.
Patrik Schick pulled a goal back for Leverkusen in the 61st minute and netted six minutes into added time to force the game to extra-time.
Boniface then grabbed what proved to be the winning goal for Leverkusen who are the holders of the German Cup.
In Italy, Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze was an unused substitute in AC Milan’s 3-1 win against AS Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
Former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham bagged a brace while Joao Felix, who only joined Milan this week, got the third goal.
Also in Belgium, Nigeria midfielder Raphael Onyedika featured for Club Brugge who qualified for the Cup semi-finals.
Genk held Tolu Arokodare’s Genk to a 1-1 draw in the semi-final second leg to progress 3-2 on aggregate.
