Turkish giants Besiktas will make a summer bid to Southampton for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu, according to reports.
Onuachu joined another Turkish club Trabzonspor on loan during the 2023/2024 season, where he scored 17 goals in all competitions.
He was a bit-part player under previous Southampton boss Russell Martin, but he is featuring regularly under Ivan Juric.
The Nigeria international is set to enter the final year of his contract with Southampton but the struggling English Premier League side are yet to offer him a new deal.
Southampton are set to be relegated to the Championship, and might not want to keep Onuachu at the club and could decide to cash in on him in the summer.
Besiktas have reportedly been long-term admirers of the 30-year-old and they have tried to sign him in the previous two transfer windows and, according to Turkish outlet Fotomac, the club will submit an official offer to Southampton at the end of the season to sign the centre forward.
Besiktas are considering terminating Ciro Immobile’s contract at the end of the season to make way for the signing of Onuachu, the report added.
Onuachu had admitted in the past that he wanted to return to Turkey after doing well for Trabzonspor.
He scored in Southampton’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
It was his fourth goal in 20 appearances in the English top flight this campaign.
