Arsenal secured a dominant 5-1 win against Manchester City in Sunday’s English Premier League clash at the Emirates to keep leaders Liverpool with sight.
Goals from captain Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Kai Havertz and youngsters Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri wrapped up a dominant display from Mikel Arteta’s men against the champions.
The Gunners have now gone unbeaten in back-to-back meetings in the Premier League against City, and are six points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
Odegaard gave Arsenal the lead just two minutes into the match following a mistake by Manuel Akanji.
Havertz had a glorious chance to double Arsenal’s lead minutes later after another error at the City backline but saw his effort go off target.
Erling Haaland drew City level 10 minutes into the second half but just one minute later Partey restored Arsenal’s lead.
Lewis-Skelly then scored his first-ever Premier League goal as he curled his effort into the back of the net to make 3-1 on 63 minutes.
Havertz atoned for his earlier miss as he added the fourth goal for his side in the 76th minute, and substitute Nwaneri wrapped up the scoring deep into stoppage time as City stay in fourth place.
