Arsenal have reportedly shown an interest in Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, who has been impressive for Atalanta this season.
According to Transfersdotcom, the Gunners are monitoring the 27-year-old Nigeria international, who is one of the most admired players across Europe at the moment.
Lookman, who scored a historic hat-trick for Atalanta in the 3-0 UEFA Europa League final triumph over Bayer Leverkusen in May, has more goal contributions – goals and assists – than any other Serie A player in all competitions this calendar year.
This brilliant form has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly close to signing him in the summer.
Lookman is still expected to leave Atalanta at the end of the season for a big club, and Arsenal are reported to be weighing up a move for the England-born Super Eagles star.
The Gunners are believed to see Lookman as an ideal player for the left wing of Mikel Arteta’s 4-2-3-1 formation.
Leandro Trossard is expected to leave Arsenal in the January transfer market, while Gabriel Martinelli has struggled over the last year.
Lookman has eight goals and five assists in 13 games in all competitions for Atalanta this season.
He is in the running for the African Player of the Year prize and finished 14th in this year’s Ballon d’Or having been the only African among the 30 nominees.
