Multiple reports on Saturday night suggested that Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and he is leaning towards the Brazil job rather than Roma or Milan.
According to The Athletic, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and others, the Italian coach is aware that his time with the Merengues has come to an end.
There had been suggestions Ancelotti could be fired after the Copa del Rey Final against Barcelona, but it now seems that they will do him the courtesy of waiting until the end of the season.
His replacement is expected to be current Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, although it remains to be seen if that switch will be before or after the Club World Cup in June and July.
As for Ancelotti, he is certainly not short on offers, being the only coach to have won the UEFA Champions League five times and collected the league title of all five big European nations.
A return to Italy would be an emotional pull, with his former club Milan and Roma – where he first shot to fame as a player – seeking a new coach in the summer.
However, the most likely solution is for him to accept the months-long courtship from the Brazilian Football Federation, who see him as their dream boss going towards the 2026 World Cup.
