Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, scored the winning goal for Atalanta and also registered an assist in the club’s 3-2 win over Fiorentina in the Serie A on Sunday.
Lookman, who was making his first league appearance of the season for Atalanta, got his side out of trouble after they went behind twice.
Lucas Martinez Quarta put Fiorentina in the lead after 15 minutes at the Gewiss Stadium, but Lookman delivered an inch-perfect cross for Mateo Retegui to level up six minutes later.
Former Juventus striker, Moise Kean, restored the visitors’ lead in the 32nd minute and on the stroke of half-time, Charles De Ketelaere restored parity.
One minute later, the 26-year-old Nigeria international scored a brilliant goal that proved to be the winner.
Lookman received the ball down the left side, beat his first marker and dazzled two other players inside the box before firing a low shot past former Manchester United goalkeeper, Davie de Gea.
The former RB Leipzig winger could have added more goals in the second half but wasted a couple of chances.
However, it was his strike that won the game for his team upon his return, underling why the club battled hard to keep him over the summer, despite the reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
Lookman has now scored 33 goals and bagged 19 assists in 80 matches for Atalanta since joining the club in 2022.
