The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has announced that the national U-12 and U-15 tournaments will be held this month in Umuahia, Abia State.
A statement by the Secretary-General of HFN, Monica Otumala, confirmed that the tournament will take place from March 18 to March 25.
Otumala said the arrival date and screening will be held within the first two days while the matches will commence on March 20.
She emphasised on the importance of the screening on March 19 to determine those who are real U-12 and U-15 to play in the championship, warning that there will be sanctions for teams, academies or clubs who break the rules.
“All participating states/academies are therefore urged to ensure that players to be presented for the exercise are within the right age. Any erring state/ academy will be sanctioned appropriately,” Otumala said.
“Only players who pass the screening session would be allowed to participate in the championship.”
She added that the winners of the tournaments and runners-up will represent Nigeria at any youth tournament as may be determined by the HFN.
