Barcelona defeated rivals Real Madrid 5-2 on Sunday night in Saudi Arabia to claim a record-extending 15th Super Cup trophy.
Real Madrid, who went into Sunday’s final as holders, have won it 13 times.
Barcelona played most of the second half with 10 men after Wojciech Szczesny was sent off but still gained revenge for the 4-1 defeat to Madrid in last year’s final.
Kylian Mbappe gave Madrid the lead just five minutes into the game.
However, it became one-way traffic as Barcelona put five past their eternal rivals.
First, Lamine Yamal equalised for Barcelona on 22 minutes while Raphinha made it 3-1 in the 39th minute.
In the 10th minute of first-half stoppage time, Alejandro Balde added the fourth goal for Barcelona before Raphinha got his second and Barcelona’s fifth three minutes into the second half.
Szczesny was shown a straight red card 10 minutes into the second half and four minutes later, Rodrygo scored for Madrid to bring the scoreline to 5-2.
All efforts to get on the score sheet again proved futile as the Barcelona backline held on to secure the big win.
It is now the second time Hansi Flick’s side have beaten their firece El Claico rivals this season.
Earlier in the season, Barcelona hammered Carlo Ancelotti’s side 4-0 inside the Santiago Bernabeu in a LaLiga fixture.
